I've read that 18x18 inch quad fold boards are fairly common and fit in boxes well sized for retail shelves (9-7/16 square). I have a game in dev that could fit on a 9x18" board. Do you think I might save a bit by doing a 9x18 with a single fold/hinge as opposed to 18x18? Or do you expect the savings vs an 18x18 would be fairly insignificant? I guess it would be a bit lighter too for shipping to my customers, as well as being lighter on the way from China to the US... I'm probably going to manufacture in China, ship them to the US and then fulfill orders from the US to the US market for starters. Any input/thoughts are appreciated, thanks!

I'm pretty sure you will save

I'm pretty sure you will save a lot with a 9 by 18 inch, two-fold board, compared to an 18 by 18 inch, quad-fold board. The large one will most likely about twice as much, if not more, than the smaller one. Not so much because of the size, but because of the work required to produce a quad-fold board.

The Game Crafter says...

According to thegamecrafter.com, an 18"x18" board costs $10. Interestingly, on their website, they say that per sheet it costs $5, and that they combine two sheets to make the board. You might consider e-mailing them to see whether it would be possible to make a 9"x18" board through them for just $5.00, or maybe a little bit more because it's non-standard for them.
