QUESTION: HOW DO I FIND A TRUSTWORTHY PUBLISHER?
Hi,
you will have to contact publishers. For this reason create a handout that contains the important facts of the game. Age, duration, players,.... . Write how it works and what it makes unike. Add photos and drawings and show it to someone who didn´t play the game, does he understand whats it about ?
Then write a rulebook.
Now you have to checkt, what games a publisher makes. Does he make similar games to yours ? Look up his webpage and look for his email. Mostly there is a information about how to send a game proposal. Big companys dont accept games send in by designers, they have contracts with game agents.
This process can take month, send your handout to a few publisher a time, do not spam all over the buisness. Wait until you are turned down to try one more. Normaly it takes 2-10 weeks for a response.
If a publisher is interested you may send in a prototype. Only send a prototype to one publisher, playtesting costs money for the pulbisher, he will want to have an exclusive view. This will take some month.
If the game will be produced it will take again up to a year until the publisher will have a final version of the prototype, so you see, take your time.....
It is not unusual to share your project with other designers as on this page. You will recive a lot of advice and help how to continue.
I hope I could help you,

What is the target market and how many times have you played it?
Have you had people you do not know play the game and weigh in?
QUESTION: HOW DO I FIND A TRUSTWORTHY PUBLISHER?
Why are you looking for a *trustworthy* publisher? Are you afraid a publisher would ever steal an idea (for a game)??? Don't worry, all designers have good game ideas and develop the ones they like best. Your problem is "Finding A publisher". One that will be interested in marketing and distributing your game.
As for "testing many times with it's target market", well I applaud you playtesting your game. The more, the better. I think what designers want to know is if you have "blind tested" your game. What that means is giving the rulebook to a bunch of complete strangers and having them play the game. What this means is not only do you have a *winning* game, you also have a good manual/rulebook. Something new players can read and understand...
You should explain your game further and see if designers on BGDF want to playtest your game. This is provided that it is PnP (Print-And-Play). This should give you independent feedback regarding your game. Talking about your game on the BGDF forums is another way to compare the game to other games in the market. Do you know what games are similar to your game? Is there a game already like yours? Is your theme overdone?
These are all valid questions. And the best place to start is HERE! Start by sharing/talking about your game (What is your game, what are the rules of your game, What kind of game is it, How is your game packaged/sold, etc.)
