Okay so some of the mystery can be revealled: Tradewars - Homeworld (TWHW) is being published by "Outer Limit Games".

Here is the link to the VOTING entry... Please take the time to give us a "Thumbs Up" if you want to help us:

Board Game Geek nomination entry

All it takes is a BGG Account and 1 second to CLICK on the vote icon (Green).

Links to "Outer Limit Games" ran by the Stricklands (Mike and Stan) can be found here:

After all the debating about the future of the game - and with Joe's insight, we are now going to publish a 4 Player Box (Yes - it will be massive) about 12" x 12", over 500+ cards if we meet all of our goals and be an awesome deal as compared to the single box version (which is no longer for sale).

Here is the preview of the NEW Box Cover:

With your help...

We hope to make it into the "TOP 50 most anticipated games" such that voting in 2017 can determine the "TOP 20 Most anticipated games of 2017".

Nominations started on the 19 November 2016 and will continue until 7 January 2017. So we have about 1 1/2 months for nominations...

We really would appreciate your support in giving us a "Thumbs Up"... and of course we owe you a big "Thank You!" if you do!

Cheers.

Just a quick comment

@Ramon: Yes we have decided to produce ONE (1) Single 4 Player Box. The individual Game Sets are "too expensive" and the shipping is a real killer.

Any way you look at it - the traction of that "format" is nearly impossible. We had thought about a 2 Player Box - but we decided that a 4 Player Box is the more acceptable "format" used by Gamers who like games such as Dominion.

If you like "Dominion" because of it's Deck-Building, you'll probably really enjoy "Tradewars - Homeworld" (TWHW) because the primary mechanic is Deck-Building.

So I think in total about 12-15 people actually have the 1 Player Game Sets - and it is mostly Designers, Reviewers and Family.

As I have already mentioned, this Game Box you see is capable of storing more than 500+ cards... And it will depend on the popularity of the game: if many people like the game, well more cards will be added.

Voted :) Also added Guards

Voted :)

Also added Guards of Atlantis to the list. Though technically the game is already produced, but we're in the middle of fulfillment so it won't get to retail until early next year most likely. So I guess we should still qualify as a 2017 release :)

Voted! Still have to play

Voted!
Still have to play part 1 again with the correct rules. And perhaps I got 2-3 more blind play testers ready. I'll let them read the rules without hinting, and then correct them if needed.
And part 2 (single player) will be somewhere next week by solely me.

And EIKobold, I voted yours too. After I looked things up. That kind of games always interest me the most, despite being the only one over here in the Netherlands.

Further down the line, I saw someone saying that "there is a lot of kickstarter crap". Has it decreased so much lately, that they don't even take the time to look games up and judge by given information? The tag Kickstarter really starts to give people a bad taste, doesn't it?

Thank you guys, every vote counts! We'll see how things progress during the next month or so...

Already people asking questions: when, how, where?! People are really intrigued with the *NEW* box! Hehehe...

Anyone else who has a BGG account and is willing to give a vote our way, would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Speaking of new box. The layout looks good, but drop the helmeted guy on the front. He doesn't fit that well on a larger box imo.

Basis for the Box Cover

There would be nothing on the Box Cover...? This "guy" is a Marine Private and is equipped for battle "out-there" in Space. And it will go according to the Race; each Race will have their own "character" on the front of the box. This is part of the game's branding...

Sorry if you don't like it in your opinion, but that's what the branding of the game looks like.

We've gotten comments that he reminds people of "Halo". This is accidental, in truth the inspiration for him comes from "Fighter Jet" pilots with the exception that this soldier has two breathing tubes going to his helmet. So no it was not inspired by Halo.

The other point is that given the Private's helmet, the glow on his mask fits perfectly with the lighting of the NEW logo. It's gold and reflective, so is his visor too... As if the light was coming from the upper right hand corner.

That must be your way at making a "humorous" remark... @arty: really?!

Not really, no. I honestly

Not really, no.

I honestly think the box would do better with modified artwork.

This might be subjective of course.

What's in the box... (take 2)

I can't really comment about anything precise until we see what happens and how popular the game is. Although we have ambitious goals, all those goals add real value to the "core" game.

What I can comment about is something like this:

Expect there to be four (4) Player Decks: 69 x 4 = 276 cards. This is to start with...

Then there will be various goal-oriented extras/goodies such as additional scenarios, game expansions, component improvements, extras, etc.

Upwardly we get to 500+ cards.

Finally there will be some ADD-ONs people can buy to complement their game. We are going to offer a very competitive price tag. I can't give you a figure exactly - but I can probably says something like picture "Dominion" but with a discounted price point! Again very competitive pricing...!

I am still very surprised by the discussions with the Publisher - they really want to offer solid value to backers/gamers.

Cheers.

Modest amount of nominations

Well we currently are at 25 nominations. Still rather LOW!

But what can you expect, we are on Page #12. People probably only Vote on the first 2-3 pages and then leave...

I'm not b!tching ... Quite a few of our BGDF Designer Members took the time to nominate the game (at least 10 people that I know of). Which is pretty good since this is a rather small community!

If anyone else feels like giving some nominations our way, well we would really appreciate it!

Nominations end January 7, 2017.

Cheers.

From the Developer

Greetings fellow-Designers & Developers!

I'm pleased to once again assist the Outer Limit Games' team with another great game. Together, we completely revamped TAU CETI and the work paid huge dividends as evidenced by both a very successful Kickstarter project and lauded in nine separate categories last year as one of the Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2016!

This year, Designer Kristopher Kycia has designed an accessible deckbuilder for brand new gamers which proves to be complex enough for avid deckbuilder fans. I'm not a deckbuilder fan, having only played Magic or Thunderstone a few times. But, having played Tradewars - Homeworld now more than 50 times (including significant play-testing), the ease with which you learn the game, coupled with incredible artwork, made this an easy choice for me to join the team.

If you have a moment, we would certainly appreciate your support. If you have any questions, please ask them here or send me a note and I'll answer them. Again, to all of the budding designers, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors throughout 2017!

Cheers,
Joe

Another few votes

Thanks @Jay, much appreciated ... every vote counts. We don't have 100 votes like Tau Ceti does. But we may just convert some of those good folks down our way! :D

With 4 more votes, the total has us at 29 nominations.

Couple more designers nominations

@Gabe and @Mokheshur, thanks for your nominations... Seems like I have "taped" into the BGDF Community as much as possible. I believe that about 10 Votes are from BGDF Members, leaving about 27 (at the time of this message) to people from Tau Ceti or BGG members who just like what they see...

Being on Page #12 - is tough because most people will not scroll to Page #12 especially since there is now a Page #13 at the very end! :(

My GOAL with this whole nomination is to be #25 or less on the Sci-Fi chart (we are at #33!) We are currently #15 on the Dice chart... Breaking into the Sci-Fi one would be AWESOME! :D

Cheers everyone.

Slowly trickling in

The last count was 29 nominations - and now we are at 39. So that +10 votes from a few days ago.

If you haven't voted already, please do! If you have BGG friends, let them know that nominations are open.

I'm very happy with all of the designers lending their support by voting. I think the designer count is at about 10. Which is pretty good...

@Jesse and @Jason ... thank you for your votes! The box is still not 100% complete. There are some minor issues with the console part of the box that need to be addressed - but those will get done soon.

At this point I feel that the race for TOP 50 will be impossible. But the chance for a TOP 25 in Sci-Fi category might be possible. We shall see!

I realize that...

Most designers have already voted/nominated us for the TOP 50 of 2017... Of course we are still very far away from making the TOP 50 - However some goals are within our reach.

Namely being on the TOP 25 Sci-Fi games of 2017. That would be an awesome achievement, even if it requires 10 more votes (ouch)!

So if you guys know any other BGG members, please encourage them to vote for "Tradewars - Homeworld"!!!

Many thanks...

Mike updated the Box Cover

Have a Second Look: This time the "console" panel wraps around the bottom and edges of the Box!!!

Now it matches better the cover and sides, giving the whole cover a better overall look.

Cheers.

People are starting to talk about out game

Well from a discussion with our Publisher, they have not "officially" acknowledged that they will be releasing a updated version of the game for 4 Players (out of one box). But backers have already started talking about the game - saying "Looks like Outer Limit Games will be publishing yet another great Sci-Fi Game..."

As far as nominations are concerned, we are currently at 43... So unless we start getting more from these "backers", we will not make the Top 50 (it was a long shot anyways). The Publisher confirms that this has nothing to do with their capacity to deliver and sell an amazingly affordable game to backers world-wide.

So for now the two matters are disconnected from each other. Still would have been nice to get into that Top 50!

Currently 129 votes we are at 43 votes!

Yeah - it's not going to happen. We are about 1/3 of the way... And I would say that I've "taped out" my resources (Designers I know - have all voted). Of course there are many that have not, but many are not active any longer. So those are always a long-shot...

But like I said "Tau Ceti" backers are starting to "talk" about TWHW... So we may still see some votes from them too. TBD.

Only 4 votes before we hit 50!

Although the momentum has slowly stalled, we are still picking up votes daily... Right now we are only 4 votes behind 50! 50 is sort of a milestone, since we had hoped to reach that mark in the Sci-Fi category. Currently we are 10 votes off the bottom of that list (position #25). We'd love to break into the Top 25 of that category...

So we're still getting nominations... And maybe we just might make the Top 25 of the Sci-Fi category!

Probably the FINAL version of the box

Although the changes a minor - this might be the FINAL version of the box...

More console added to the side, improved the shapes of the other facets of the console too...

Take a final look - and tell us what you think!
