I’m working with a startup that is developing an electronic board game system. The playing surface will be 18 x 24 inches with the graphics projected from overhead. The board is capable of reading the positions of the game pieces which themselves have the capacity to store information. It has wireless connectivity and can be augmented by hand held devices such as smart phones or tablets.
We know that no matter how cool our system is it will ultimately succeed or fail based on the games you can play on it. The system is currently in prototype but knowing that the development time on games can be quite long we want to find content for it sooner than later.
We need a wide variety of types of games for the product launch so all types of games will be considered. That being said there are something’s we are looking for. The games will need to appeal to a mass market audience, & have unique & lively themes. Tactility is also important so games where there is little interaction between the board and pieces are less likely to be accepted.
