Traveller is a licensed card game adaptation of Marc Miller’s classic science-fiction universe. Hit the mains of the Third Imperium in search of riches and adventure!

Captain one of Traveller’s iconic vessels. Fend off troublesome opponents, endure the onslaught of a hostile and uncaring universe, stave off bankruptcy and beat your rivals to 20 Victory Points!

Our game is designed for 2-4 players, but the mechanics allow for solo play as well. Check out our campaign for details on backer levels, future products and more!

More details?

I'd like to see more about this product...it's gameplay, what makes this card game different than other card games, a ruleset or gameplay video..

Right now I see a lot of fluff and description, but no substance. It's going to take more than a cute girl talking about the game world to get me (or anyone here for that matter) to invest in this.

Somehow I think we won't see any of it.

This is from the comment section:
"@Paul Bendall: Any backer interested in playtesting can email contact@travellerccg.com. We'll send you an NDA and a short survey on your experience with Traveller and card games generally. When we have those back, we'll get you playtest materials and invite to our playtest Google Group!"

Made me chuckle.

Words "NDA" and "first-time-designer" are, basically, synonyms.

I was wary at first about

I was wary at first about posting my game here before launch, but glad I did and got some great feedback which led me to redesign the card.

Sad.

That's unfortunate.

As with all products, this game needs to show what makes it unique in order to sell. When I flip the channels at night, when I go to a fair, when I walk around Costco, I'm bombarded with products exclaiming their uniqueness to get me to buy. When I watch the video on this game, it's like, "Well, it's a game, it's based on a book, and it's fun", which is not much at all.

I truly don't understand why the designer is being so resistant to showing off how the game works.

Here's some examples for the OP:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evilhat/the-dresden-files-cooperati...
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gerdling/two-rooms-and-a-boom?ref=n...
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jameystegmaier/scythe?ref=nav_search
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/blood-rage?ref=nav_se...
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/the-others-7-sins?ref...

All of these are wildly successful Kickstarter campaigns that have gameplay spelled out in their video. travellerccg should really look at what's out there and not be so stingy with the product.

I'm going to have to pass on this one. No information on the gameplay or why it's something I want to buy. Sorry.

You all fell for the TRAP

Just as an FYI, this is exactly the kind of post BGDF Admins and Mods dislike. While it's nice you bring to our attention a NEW game, it's already complete.

This forum is for discussing "Game Design". There is little point to posting a "Hello!" and then posting "Here's my Kickstarter."

I hope you will contribute to this community by posting and replying to our other members... This is a Give and Take community - not just a poster for KS campaigns!

You chose to subscribe to this community, we hope you will contribute to it.

For the rest of the designers - let's see if we can truly welcome a NEW designer by him/her contributing to the other threads in the forum...

You know, I was really wanting to know this guy's schtick as his Kickstarter presentation is pretty slick. Unfortunately, since he's being tight lipped about the game mechanics...probably for fear of it being "stolen"it's working against him.

What's also sad is that I think he was only here to promote his game and scoot...like many others. I hope he gets this message..it's sad to see someone with so much potential make so many missteps.

NDA and "1st TIme Designer" actually not always synonomous

Admittedly, I've enjoyed the Traveller universe for more than three decades and while I'm not a fan of card-driven games (even those not exclusively CCGs or LCGs), this one caught my eye. Now, while I've lent my editing and play-testing skills to folks like Jamey Stegmaier (Invaders from Afar and Charterstone); Mark Swanson (Feudum); Kryzsztof Wolicki (Martians: A Story of Civilization); and Randy Rathert (The King's Abbey), among others, this is the first time I've been asked to sign an NDA. [Okay, there was that one time with FFG that fell through...that's a curious bunch over there.]

Now, on the other side of the coin, as a designer, we regularly sought input. When we launched videos of the game play for TAU CETI, later iterations of the rules, etc., we wanted to hear from our potential Backers and customers. Now, Jeff did send me an NDA for this game and I'll sign it and respect the contract, but I'm a bit dismayed at how they're going about this from a designer's AND a developer's perspective.
