Hi All,

Since all on this life appears to be related to the way the things look like I need some help. Particularly in software for game testing or game play the visual composition is very important for the users. If at the end they don't like the interface design, the things may not go as well as you had expected. So currently I'm looking for volunteer visual artists that would like to help on designing a user interface for virtual board; the gameplay it's turning very stable and am focusing on the general presentation. Does anyone know somebody who can help? or are you interested on participating?

Pictures and Preview

Hi le_renard

Yes, I had published a preview of the current virtual board composition. Virtual Board is a software I've been working on to test card trading games. You can see the preview here:

There is a download section also; currently the interface is pretty basic but I'd like to make it more fancy, something that keeps on the line of TCG games and that looks great as a software skin...

Thanks for the link. Do you

Thanks for the link.
Do you have any reference in mind ?
It can be tricky to find an interface that would match Pokemon and Magic at the same time !
What elements are customizable in your software ?

All Customizable

Well... all of the components can be customized, and what regards to pokemon and magic I would say it is only the advertising, since these are pretty popular games I wanted to atract some sights to the software, I actually used some of your city of wolves cards in one of my blog entries here in the forum, to try to show how easy was to mount decks. I went over your rules and found it pretty interesting, also I noticed that I haven't considered handling multiple decks on the software and wrote it down to include it on the new release.

So let's say you are interested, then what you will need to do is to sketch your visual design idea, and then separate the components so I can integrate them as a skin. For instance, you would like to add a particular frame design for the board, some custom buttons, layouts and presentation for each area, etc. Then you will have to design your components prototype, in let's say Inkscape; for instance, consider the following:

1. For buttons you must have an "Over Button" image, a "Pressed Button" image, a "Released Button" image; the same applies for checkboxes and radiobuttons.

But the design is not limited only to those states, actually the idea of requesting help is also to receive a general proposal for the look and feel of the software, and then according to this design we will define the states for the components, it is just like designing your board in real life. So I will need each component and state images in a separated image each so I can create the skin... Don't fix your skin design to my current components disposition, I can change them if the skin requires them to fit the authors idea.

The reference... well... not anything in mind yet so I'm open to receive ideas, can be something medieval related to war between cards, something SCI-FI also related to cards, etc. It is really open to anything...

The reward: well... since this a self-maintained project the reward will be the recognition of your work and the sign off of your work on the application... I by any mean in the futher I start making money using your art on this I'll be fair with you...

That's something I could try to do to help you, but I don't know if I will be able to find some free time to do it...
I'll see what I can do.
