Hey everyone!
This is my first post here and I dont really know where I could post this other than here. I'm a concept artist and illustrator. I have 5 years experience working in the industry on small game titles where my job was to create 2D assets such as sprite sheets, backgrounds, items, etc.
In last year or so I worked on 2 table-top board game titles yet to be released and before that I had never thought of making art for table-top games even though fantasy / sci-fi art is what I love to create. So this year I want to do more of what I love to do and hopefully be able to create some amazing art for some of the projects going on in this forum :)

Please take a moment to review my work at https://nicholascato.carbonmade.com/

And if you think I might be a match for your project feel free to contact me at nicholas.cato@gmail.com

Thank you for your time

Wow!

Awesome work Nicholas! I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding projects in need of your skills.

You'll want to target designers with intent to Kickstart/publish their own games, or publishers who employ artists like you.

For designers who are looking to license their designs (like me), paying for art is usually a detriment, as a company will likely prefer to use their own artists or tailor the game to their vision/needs. In other words, keep the core game and scrap the art. A designer could easily find themselves "in the red" with art they paid for which didn't get used...sometimes never even making that money back in royalties!

All that said, welcome, and again...I'm sure you'll find a very warm and receptive audience here, as your talent is without question!

Thanks so much Chris! But I

Thanks so much Chris! But I don't sell art I've already produced im a freelance character designer / illustrator which means a guy like you with a board game idea would come to me with ideas they have for art (like for characters, items, maps, etc). I would then produce a set of characters or illustrations based on the descriptions they give me. So I basically do the same thing an in-house artist does. To make it simple, I don't sell stock art for board games I create custom one of a kind art with the game designer that fits the vision they have for their game as closely as possible :)

I understand

Absolutely I did not mean to imply that you sell stock art...my point being, unless a designer intends to manufacture and publish a game on their own, only then is the expense of hiring an artist of your talent necessary. Of course most if not all would want custom art.

In my case, my business model is to license toys and games to publishers/manufacturers, who would then contract final art for the game. It would be entirely up to the publisher who creates the art, if any rules changes are made...basically the game now belongs to them, so they can change any aspect of the game as they see fit...and they almost always will.

This is why it is usually inadvisable to pay for fantastic art in the prototype stage...90% of the time, it doesn't make it into the final game.

Again, if a designer intends to bring their game to the public entirely on their own, without assigning rights via license agreement with a publisher (and there are plenty such designers out there thanks to Kickstarter), then those are your potential development partners in need of final, polished artwork. Simply stating who you are best off targeting with any promotional discussion threads...

It may also be worth stating that DIY designers likely won't have the same budget to create custom art as a publisher will...just something to keep in mind given the inevitable ask for your rates. Here's a thread dicussing this very topic, just to see what's been discussed here previously. Perhaps as a pro illustrator, weighing in here would be advantageous:

I do hope we can grow our resource of fantastic visual artists like you here on BGDF...this is such an amazing incubator, and you have a great opportunity to participate and lend you artistic expertise to ongoing projects discussed here!
