Hi everyobdy. I guess that it's appropiate that I introduce myself. I'm Diego, an industrial designer from Argentina.
I've started getting interested in boardgames for a while as another venue to explore design ideas and I'm finding it fascinating as it has lots of similarities to product design while having a different focus.

It's hard -and expensive- to get boardgames here so I haven't played as many as I'd like (and I know that playing games is the most important thing for aspiring designers to do) but that's the reality I have to deal with.

I'm now slowly advancing with a game design in my free time. I've gotten to the point where I can safely say that the core mechanics are locked down and now I gotta test, balance and experiment with secondary mechanics. It's nothing revolutionary but I'm quite satisfied with it for a first proyect. I guess I'll make a post about it down the line as right now all the assets are in spanish.

I've been reading the forum a bit and there's lots of interesting disscusions here, I hope I can contribute.

Welcome tikey

Welcome to BGDF! For some design questions, having the assets in Spanish might not be a big deal (placement of icons on cards, do these two meeples look differentiated enough?, and so on).

I look forward to hearing about your project, and your thoughts on others' projects around here.

If you can't get your hands on specific games, you can watch videos that demo the game from "The Dice Tower" (Tom Vasal and co) or "Edo Game Reviews" (Edo Baraf), etc. That will give you a better idea about the game - to see if you really want to invest in buying it or not...

It's also a good way to learn the mechanics of the game - and see if there are any interesting twists!

Cheers.

Thank you all, and thank you

Thank you all, and thank you quest for the recommendation, I'll be sure to check those pages out.

Which would be the best forum to post about my game? I've seen there's many subforums regarding discussing mechanics and theory but I don't see a "my game" subforum so I don't know what's the protocol here. :P

I depends what you want to post as a topic

"Design Theory" is about rules, themes.

"Proofreading" to see if you can find someone to look over your rulebook.

"Mechanics" is well "obviously" about game mechanics.

"New Game Ideas" is probably where you want to post about an idea.

"Playtesting" to see if you can talk or find someone to playtest.

"Prototyping" all about trying out your game ideas.

"Publication" all about getting your game published.

"Theme Design" is there to discuss various themes.
