Hi there,
My name is Kevin, and I am currently living on the west coast of Canada.
I've recently picked up board gaming as a hobbie. I use to play Magic in high school and university, but lost my core group of players when I moved for work to help pay for a maturing life and responsibilities. As I was researching new games for my wife and I to play ideas kept popping into my head for themes and games.
I am a newb at board game design, but look forward to learning from everyone else that is here.
I have a couple of ideas right now for games. The first being scarf and dice game where players are either a detective or a murder suspect. Players race to gather (detectives) or hide evidence (suspects) required for the given homicide (a deck of numerous homicides will be available). To capture the evidence certain die rolls are required, a mechanic similar to Elder Sign and the room tasks. There will be investigative cards which contain the evidence, and action cards which could help or hinder the player. Still an idea in progress!
My second idea is a tower defence game with a changing landscape that would limit some movement of the enemies as the game progresses. I originally had a theme of an apocalyptic natural disaster like an earthquake where the land will drop away making the enemy use a different path. I was thinking of a Survive: Escape from Atlantis-type mechanic for the land removal. My theme is still up in the air because I've thought of several other themes as my ideas for the gameplay develop.
I look forward to sharing my ideas with all of you and get a lot of constructive help and criticism as my games develop.
Cheers,
Kevin
