Hi; my name is Ken, I’m a hopeful inventor entrepreneur. I designed, patented and built a proof of concept/ working model of a device that is designed to transform two dimensional tabletop fantasy RPGs into three dimensional tabletop fantasy RPGs. This device is in no way designed to replace conventional fantasy tabletop RPGs, yet is an addon to enhance and make RPG more immersive.
With the help of BGD form it is my sincere hope to establish a focus/ playgroup to test whether or not my invention will be accepted by the tabletop fantasy RPG community.

Hi Ken! I have no idea how one transforms a 2D game into a 3D one, but I’m guessing we’ll find out :). What’s your patent number?
Welcome to the forum!
Looks interesting. Back many many moons ago when I actually had time to fiddle with RPGs, we rarely used figures for anything other than character portraits. But when we did lay out a battle scene it was because the setting was really complicated. If those arms are adjustable, I can definitely see my friends' younger selves spending money they didn't really have on something like that.
The one who hosted the game had cats. That would have gotten interesting :-)
Look forward to seeing more of your ideas here... and your feedback on others' ideas.
Hey Ken,
Can you provide some more details about your project? It looks interesting! I assume by the pictures that you are creating a layered board platform? Such as multiple stories of a building? Or, you could just host many scenarios in one location? Either way, it's cool. Is it collapsible? How well does it work with different types of games? What is your estimated MSRP?
Thanks
-Austin
This looks really interesting. Two quick Questions'
1) I am old and my eyes are worn. Do you have any larger pictures to look at?
2) Do you have a website for more details?
Have you had a chance to use this in an RPG session? Have you brought it to a local game store? A convention?
I know companies supply dungeon tiles, laser cut walls, etc. Erasable, flexible game maps are also very popular.
I'm working on a new game device, this game device will have multiple platforms on which RPG game maps and or tile could be placed upon. These platforms will measure 12" X 12". What are the small size of RPG maps, is 12" x 12" too small for an RPG map?
My maps are like 2.5' x 3.5'... :/
(to be fair, each of my TILES would fit fine on a thingy like that, but I'm not designing a large, costly device into my 10" x 12" game box..)
Not to be a naysayer, but...
That's a very specific patent. It's claiming one very specific thing. And that specific thing is 3D chess. The biggest limitation to your claim is the number twenty-four...
How does it build upon US4348027A in a novel way? That patent's claims are written pretty broadly.
Also it's not issued, so the correct term is "Patent Pending."
(edit: here's the link if anyone's interested https://patents.google.com/patent/US20110127720 )

Lol.. I know a little about patents :)
I think you may be over-estimating the danger level.. though I don't know the Bronx at all.
You do need to actually try it, though!
To bring people to you, you'd probably need to know them somewhat first, and you'd at least need to be providing pizza and beer and so on. :)
Lol I don't drink. Go to a liquor store and ask for a recommendation :)
(assuming you find people who drink at all.. most people will drink SOMETHING.. hard cider, hard lemonade, etc. Otherwise soda, etc.. It was mostly just an expression, not a demand for beer :) )
Heineken = Dutch beer (Pale lager)
Corona = Mexican beer (Pale lager)
Sapporo = Japanese beer (Pale lager)
Sleeman's Honey Brown = Canadian beer (Amber Lager)
Rickard's Red = Irish beer (Amber Lager)
Guinness = Irish beer (Dry stout)
These are all different and vary in taste. Sometimes you can go to the Liquor store and they have bottles in fridges and let you mix & match your beer selection. These are all "GOOD" beers (nothing crappy). I'm not exactly a beer lover, but I do like some beers (Corona especially)... Sapporo is amazing if you've never tried it (Rice beer). The only one that I have NOT tried is Guiness – but that beer is legendary (everyone knows it).
I don't know what you'll find in your area. But these are good choices. And since not everyone likes Dark Beer (Guinness), Heineken, Corona and Sapporo are light tasting (even people who don't drink beer will find them easy to drink). Sleeman's Honey Brown is a mix between light and dark... So that's why I added it (Plus I'm Canadian too!)
Cheers (literally)!
Note: A personal favorite is Rickard's White (Belgian-style wheat ale)... It's got a citrus-y zest to it... But it's Canadian Micro-brewery ... So I'm not sure you would be able to get it in the USA.
Note #2: If you ask me what I got stacked in my fridge, I would say Rickard's Red and Rickard's White. Love the White (and Corona too!)
Note #3: Also some people (drinkers) would say Corona is a CHEAP beer... But why I like it is because it's EASY to drink (light beer). And for a fact ordering Corona in Mexico is less expensive that ordering a bottle of water!!! LOL
We may have drifted a bit off topic :)
You guys are so lucky in the USA. You have an online store that sells over 100 different varieties of "Root Beer" (https://www.therootbeerstore.com)...
My family loves Root Beer and to TASTE an "Australian" Root Beer ... would be fantastic.
I've searched around and found some stores that carry different brands, it's like $20 USD for 6 bottles. Which is VERY REASONABLE. But most online stores don't ship outside the USA... And the one that I found who ships to Canada, the shipping costs are $60 USD!!! 3x the price of the bottles!
Shipping costs are insane for some items...
Again maybe off-topic... Cola with Pizza is good if you want to keep it simple. Just so that nobody gets too boisterous...
OK, lets see if I can clear up a lot of misconceptions, my device isn’t actually a game, but a device, an add on for using with the game; though it can be used as a stand alone device. What value my device adds is that it isn’t restraint by any rules. You don’t have to use all the levels, these individual levels can be removed or added. Moreover, you can adapt just about any RPG fantasy role playing. Many 2D fantasy role playing games already have a 3D element to it; you travel to a tower, cave, swim to the ocean deep, you enter a burning building, invade a derelict spacecraft; and you have to explore these multiple levels; unfortunately you have to do it two dimension; by spreading your gaming tiles or maps across a two dimensional surface and convince yourself you are actually ascending or descending through multiple levels, but all the while you are moving back and forth across a flat two dimensional surface. My device will make tabletop gaming more - immersive, it will give fantasy tabletop RPGs more depth; that is, for those who wish it. Let us remember at one time no one wanted scenery maps and mini figures; but they relented because it add a depth to the game, I believe my device will do the same. It won't be for everyone. But I’m sure someone out there is looking for something like this.
