Hello all,
I'm getting back into game design after some early success followed by a (long) break to do some intensely interesting real-world stuff. I'm willing to help if you need play testers or another set of eyes on your work, and looking forward to getting feedback from other designers on my games.
I've spent most of my life doing hands-on work in IT and high-tech, including a generous helping of work with the U.S. Congress and federal agencies, biotech and pharma, industrial control, federal and military research labs, and chemical and biological weapons detection. I'm currently a technical consultant, writer and screenwriter; I write for some major web sites like eHow and consult for independent film and network TV productions.
I was involved in both board game and RPG design a long time ago, including getting some RPG design work published. I'm getting back into it again with 4 different board games in design (2 a little more than half-way through the first draft, the other 2 in the early design stages).
I have a little catching up to do on some of the more recent games and mechanics, which I find can be both helpful (I have a fresh set of eyes right now) and limiting (I'm not familiar with some good mechanics solutions out there).
Offer of Help: If you need play testers for your game or could use an editor for the rules, please drop me a line. As a writer and editor I have a way with making sometimes complex subjects easier to understand.
Thanks,
John
