Heyy BGDF!

I came across a link to this website while checking out the UK game expo page.

I am in my third year at university and I work as a care worker with young people. I also run my own company teaching circus skills and performing. In between the essays and the juggling, I have somehow found a bit of time to get my board game idea on paper!

I am currently fairly well progressed with a game I am currently calling 'joust' but that needs a much better name ASAP. It's a campaign style game based on medieval tournaments. It's designed to represent the sport and character of the competitions, rather than be purely combat focused.

When and where I can, I've been testing this on family, friends and work mates and I have a small tournament running with about 8 different players with characters. Everyone has accepted that rules and stuff will change as the game develops!

The rule book is usable, but I have some of the longer campaign sections to write soon...

I also have an idea about a naval game based half in board mechanics and half in RPG based story/strategy.

Anyhoo...

Welcome

Welcome to BGDF. I recently joined as well and have been very pleased with the people and answers to my questions.

I'll give a quick shot at a name for you game. How about "Splintered Lances" or "Broken Lances"? Whatever you name your game, I would suggest using vivid action words.

I wish you luck on your game.

He could also take a page out of Monty-Python's book and call it, "The Point-ed Stick." The game where you learn self defense again fruit wielding maniacs!

Ok, a bit more serious now. I agree with you Mr. My Favorite Bionicle when I was younger. I mean, Toa Lewa. A little bit of alliteration can alongate the likeablility of your lancing game. You could call it, Splintered Spears, or Knightly Know-how (Ok that last one was kinda lame). You could call it Lances and Ladies, and have the "prize" be the affection of a lovely young lady.
