My name is James, I recently made some life changes like quitting my job and moving my family into a little mobile home in the ozarks. The upshot of this is I have a lot of free time. I have always loved games of all kinds, and game design has always been attractive to me. I worked in the video game industry for a while, and would like to get into perhaps mobile game development , but I thought I might try my hand at designing board games. Having 5 children , I can appreciate the value of face to face interaction over a table vs sitting behind a screen with headphones on. So I got on my little phone (my only connection to the world out here) and googled 'board game design ' and here I am.

Welcome James! Happy to hear
Welcome James! Happy to hear you've decided to try your hand at board game design. What sort of work did you do in videogames? (if you don't mind me asking?).
Have you got any fledgling ideas for board games?
Jack

welcome!
Welcome, welcome! I hope you'll find some good feedback and support here.
I've got a couple of ideas brewing. It seems from my experience that designing a game is easy, but designing a game people will like to play is the trick ;)
As for the video game industry, I got involved as a tech support rep/game tester for a couple of lousy drag racing gamed. They had a small hardcore fan base but lacked any mass appeal. I could hardly stand to play them myself.
