Hello, I'm new to this board and this is my first post.
I have been interested in board games as a child, with some favorites Risk, Stratego, Chess, and Go.
I'm working on a new project which has influences from some of these games and I'm planning on posting about it soon on BGDF to get some feedback.

Apologies if I'm misreading, but your post makes it sound like you used to play games as a kid but don't now. You may want to visit BoardGameGeek.com and take a look at the current picture of the hobby -- it's a vibrant, exciting community with LOTS of deep, interesting games.
It will also give you a sense of the landscape for games as you develop your own.
