Hey everyone, I have been really into board games for the past year or so and I instantly became obsessed with the design element of it and plan to take it way further than a hobby. I've already come up with an idea that I thought was worth pursuing (posted in the new game idea forums). Anyways, I also love to contemplate game designs and would be happy to give my input towards other people's games. I hope to meld with this community and get to know all of you, the amazing projects you are all working on, and the ideas that everyone comes up with on random little things.

LETS GET STARTED!!!

Interests

I do not have an exact memory of what first sparked me into the board game and card game world but I love in depth strategies and the complexity in the nature of some games even though they are sometimes supposed to just be simple games.
Anyway some games that I enjoy a lot would include games like Small World, Puerto Rico, Kemet, Castle of Burgundy, and a slightly modified version of Boss Monster. I have a huge list of games i have researched and dream of getting one day and although my collection now is small I hope to broaden it with amazing games as well as some of my own. Anyways, if you have any suggestions for games to play or look up I would love to hear them.

Some recommendations of mine, if you haven't already played them

King of Tokyo is my current favorite game and I feel like it's an excellent example of a streamlined theme. Also, Betrayal at House on the Hill, while less polished than most games I've played, is inspiring in the complexity of what it tries to do. You will naturally have ideas for your own tile exploration game while playing it.

I have tried both games but

I have tried both games but do not currently own them. Betrayal was a lot of fun and provided a lot of intense gameplay (the haunt). King of Tokyo I have played once but was not able to get the feel for the game so I will probably try to play it again sometime soon if I am able to. Thanks for the suggestions!

Also since you said you were fairly, new, what drove you to join BGDF and what games inspired you?

I just naturally want to

I just naturally want to create things that I like is all. I've already tried my hand at writing a novel, for example, among other things. I visited a tabletop store in my area, became interested, and started reading into the different kinds of games out there. I came across The Dice Tower, which introduced me to BGDF, and the rest is history.

Some of the games that inspired me were: Betrayal at House on the Hill for the reasons I've already posted, King of Tokyo for being my favorite game I own, Bang for showing me how a good game can be streamlined into something better (the dice game), and Heroscape as my original tabletop game.

Interesting

That's very interesting. I think it is very fascinating that something really good can be created from such spontaneous idea.
