These are non-specific prototypes. I just quickly put them together... I did not spend hours fussing about the font or icons or the positions.
Basically it just shows you 2 examples of the "Red" clan and "Blue" clan. If you need to go above something you can do it also - it just shortens the length a little bit...

What's nice
Think that you can make 10 of these rules for different clans. It's still cheaper than having to make an arbitrary board or a ton of squares... Players may also enjoy the freedom of whatever space they are in.
I was also thinking about "hexes". But not placed everywhere... Just in certain areas. This would be to add a dimension to the play area. For example, one tile could be a forest and could provide a defensive bonus. Another tile could be a mountain and could provide an offensive bonus.
What the bonuses are can be left to the imagination. You could use dice to determine the bonus + or -. Like I said I have not thought about the rest of the mechanics.
The idea would be to have a larger play area with some added depth. Something larger than most board can accommodate.
