Tradewars - Homeworld: Almost complete

As of the writing of this blog entry only four (4) more illustrations are missing to complete the game! Woohoo!!

It's amazing to have come so far from humble beginnings, to an early Art Score of 94%, to now almost completing all the cards in the game.

Because some card backs are used on multiple cards, there still is probably around a dozen or so cards remaining in the game that need to be completed. But in terms of illustrations/artwork, only four (4) remain.

This means we are on-schedule for our July 1 2016 delivery date. Next steps will be to begin to digitize the rulebook from MS Word to Adobe InDesign so that the pages can be submitted to "The Game Crafter" (TGC) via high resolution images (PNG or JPG).

I am presently trying to wrap up all of the latest batch of illustrations (18 cards affected - but only five (5) illustrations/artwork).

It's been three (3) years in the making - and it's finally nice to be seeing the TGC webpage with less and less placeholder artwork.

Soon I will post a link to the rulebook so other designers can comment and give feedback. The rulebook has been seen by a select few already which include reviewers, other designers and our sanity tester over at TGC.

The prototypes looked pretty good considering most of the illustrations were placeholder artwork. But soon I will buy the FINAL prototype with all the illustrations and rulebook to proof and be 100% certain the game is done without any errors. This is a BIG task and I will be asking our Developer Joseph Pilkus III to also help in this review task.

I hope this process will go smoothly and he and I will have the only advanced copies of the game (Pre-release).

Here's to three (3) years of continued commitment...

Congratz :)

That's awesome, keep up the good work :D can't wait to see the result from all your hard work.

Very cool

Congratulations. Can't wait to see it!

50% of the rulebook is pixelized!

That's right in about 4 hours, I have managed to convert the rulebook from a MS Word document to a pixelized version in Photoshop.

I would like to personally thank @Hassanray over at "The Game Crafter" (TGC) for suggesting to go with high resolution screen captures. This method has simplified the task from 1 months worth of Abobe InDesign/Illustrator manual work - to simple copy & paste in Photoshop.

Like I said in 4 hours, half of the rulebook is done.

My only concern is that the writing will be very small. The good thing is that it is Black on White. So no fancy colors to make reading harder than it already is in the formal of a 3.5" x 5" small-sized rulebook that will fit into the Small Pro Box.

But I will make available a digital PDF available for download via TGC also... This is for people who have a hard time reading the rulebook or you just want to print out a larger copy of the rulebook. The MS Word document is 5" x 8" (a little bit bigger).

Again kudos to @Hassanray for helping me out - with the ALTERNATE method of pixelizing the rulebook. A real BIG help!

Cheers.

100% FINISHED!

It's just after Midnight (Eastern Time) and I have finished and uploaded ALL of the pages for the rulebook (version 0.22).

This method of copy & paste really helped in making it possible to make the rulebook with much less effort than using InDesign/Illustrator.

I must admit when I used InDesign earlier in the week, I was very disappointed considering the amount of effort required. It's not like the software could open an MS Word file and properly format it!

But luckily by some external help - I managed to get it all done in a couple of days. Which is GREAT considering if there needs to be revisions, I can take the time to make them (and there will be some regarding gameplay images).

Peace!

Total COST to produce the game is...

$20.71 per 1 Player Game Set. Just over $5.00 for the 20 page rulebook itself... Our "The Game Crafter" (TGC) price point (Sales) is $29.99 which means we make about a little over $6.50+ per game set sold. While this is not that high - I have been told that a profit of around $5.00 is normal while selling your game online on TGC's website.

With our "Crowdfunding" effort IF we get 100 backers, the price drops to less than $20.00. A savings of about 40%. So you almost get two (2) games for the price of one! That's something particularly wonderful for all of the backers that want to buy the game...

Right off the gecko - the FIRST (1) game set bought has a $5.00 discount (so $24.99). Of course we expect the price point to be lower - but we shall see what backers think of our "little game"!

Cheers.

Only 3 illustration to go...

Of the 3 illustrations left, there are a total of 7 cards that need to be updated with the *NEW* illustrations + the Box Bottom. We're into the home stretch!

I also got some more information concerning our timeline with another reviewer and it seems like the game is well liked - since people want to play it again - even though they already have enough material/information to do the actual review (which should get done by next week).

We've contacted "The Game Crafter" (TGC) to help better prepare us for the actual "Crowdfunding" since it's our first time. And we want to make sure there are no surprises we had not planned for.

So ALMOST there!

Only 1 more illustration to go!

Well I completed ALL the cards today and ordered a couple copies for proofing and in-store playtesting (EARLY before the SALE). It's supposed to ship on the 20 June which is not too bad - 1 week.

The last illustration is the "Box Bottom" which for proofing doesn't really concern me.

Amazingly the game is just about done!

I also am going to get Business Cards printed (for $15.00) in order to market the game at a store. Got to figure out what the SALES link will be and the normal link for the game (both are needed).
