So how is the site looking to everyone?

I have made a few changes as a result of the current comments, but just wondered if there is anything else major (besides Chat) that should be getting looked at.

Does everyone like the look and feel of the site?

Have you tried out various themes?

Have you created your userpage?

Do you like the layout of the current content?

Have you noticed any other more important items missing from the site content?

For me, it'll probably take some time to adjust (call me conservative or something...).

I can already see a bunch of opportunities the new site offers that the current one does not.

As for styles, again, it'll take some time to find what suits me (and to find the one that I like in terms of surfing-comfortability... Some styles aren't that comfortable in having buttons/tabs/links/whatnot nearby and handy. Sometime you have to scroll too much or realy search to find your way...)

One thing I would realy like is to have a preference that says that I view forums in "plain"-style (I don't like "threaded",... never did and probably never will...)

Also, as I mentioned quite some time ago, A folder-based upload space would be marvelous to organise your personal uploads. (Upload-volume is quite reduced, I noticed...)

Overal I'm happy with the new features, I think they will enlarge and encourage the "community-feeling".

I'll try some more stuff but currently, I'm realy, realy busy and I'm not behind the computer very much.

Keep up the good work!

Cheese!

PS: Chat is working now, I haven't tried signing in and out as you mentioned, but that's not something I do often.

I'm working through the site as well, playing around with things, so will have some more detailed feedback soon...

So far, I agree with Gogolski that I prefer Plain as opposed to Threaded in the forums, though this may just take some getting used to, but it may be worth considering making Plain the default?

Made me a Userpage, and I think that will be useful, especially having multiple pages, though it would be nice to be able to link to each individual page through a table of contents. Maybe you can but I haven't worked it out yet.

I agree that it may take people a while to get used to the new system. The main advantage is that it really lets people tweak the forum to their liking and it gives each user their own individual space, which is all good. You may get a lot of 'how do I do this?' type questions come up from people wanting to know how to set things up for themselves, depending on how savvy they are, so be prepared for that...

The site is much more of a game designer workplace/desk which is nice, giving people a central place where they can keep notes and files on their games etc. One of the most interesting things for me from the current site is the Journals, and being able to read about other peoples games and current designs, and if this new site promotes that then all the better!

You will have to remember that most of the people are most used to the bgdf being promarily a forum, and it feels like the new site does not promote that so much. i.e. The listing on the left has 'Forums' way down the bottom. I would put that up higher, under Wiki, or at least make it more prominent or easier to access the Forums, as I imagine that the forums will remain the most used part of the site - or is the intention for the new site more as an information repository and for people to create their own individual space, rather than focussing on the forums?

Then again, there is also a link from the Home page, so it may be fine...

One other quick thing - sometimes there are extra lines in pages etc, so there are gaps of two lines instead of one. Not a biggie, but a bit strange, and can be a pain for fomatting things...

I only just discovered this forum and the wiki because Yogurt Is Very Slow.

I found it quite daunting, actually. The monochromatic look of the site leaves my attention unfocused. My first thought was "Yikes, there are way too many options." But when I returned here to BGDF Classic, I see that most of the same options exist, but I never look at them. The colour draws my attention to the active part of the screen, especially with posts.

Other quibbles:

I found the widespread use of colon as dividers to be distracting.

The heavy use of small italicized fonts makes the site hard to read on my 1024x768 monitor.

Er, no. Hang on. Okay, this could make the site more readable for me. A different default theme might be worthwhile.

I'll keep poking around.

To follow up on this, I notice now that if you don't log in, the page has fewer options on it, which may make it easier for new users to find their way around.

I'd consider reordering the menu on the left. Articles, images and forums are going to be more important to most visitors than Wiki concepts like last changes or sandbox.
