Monster Keep — Retiring this Design

Well a bit of SAD news tonight. As I write this, I am permanently "Retiring" the "Monster Keep" (MK) design. I just couldn't get it to the level of interest that I wanted from this design and although I had gone over 20+ versions ... In the end, I'm privileging "Duel Botz" (DB) over this design.

What do the designs have in COMMON you ask???

Well here's a bit of the commonality that makes me want to focus on ONE (1):

  • Both are using MidJouney AI art;
  • Both are card games with little else components;
  • Both were competing in my wheelhouse to be THE "Card Game";
  • Both were supposed to continue on my Kids to Adult Games.

Having said that ... The format of the games was supposed to be different. I liked a LOT of the concepts that MK had... But DB has a more interesting premise and I think will ultimately be the better of the two (2) games.

MK also was going to use Plastic Cards ... DB does not (and will not) they might be printed on Foil-based cardstock ... Adding a bit of pizzazz to the game. Hehehe.

But truth be told... DB is way more interesting than MK. I TRIED to make MK more interesting and with so many versions, I ALWAYS thought that the game HAD "potential", but I'm just realizing that DB is a much more better design...

So it is will some "reservation" that I retire the "Monster Keep" Design. It was just a matter of time TBH.

Sincerely.
