Snak, that's just brilliant.

Strong players can earn VP by gifting resources to other players... naturally, they will gift to the weakest players... which helps them catch up to the rest.

Built-in runaway leader management. I love it.

This one sounds interesting, maybe a good opportunity to have a 'cooperative/competetive' game where players have to cooperate for anyone to win, but are in competition as there's only 1 winner.
