Twilight Imperium 3... I really want this to be a fun game. Does anyone play with variants they care to share?
Last time we played (4p), we used the variant that made the Imperial(8) card be worth 1 VP if you had Metacol Rex and give you the ability to claim multiple objectives in a round, we had all the objectives face up from the start, we didn't allow claiming stage 2 objectives until after round 3, and we made every resource spent on nonfighter ships be worth 1/10 of a VP. I think maybe next time we'll do something similar but without carriers contributing towards shipbuilding VPs. It worked fairly well overall I think, but it was hard to tell because some bad politicking gave one player an easy win.
