This was just posted at the protospiel yahoo group
Hi everyone,
Protospiel is about seven weeks away. I hope everyone is having fun
polishing up those prototypes in anticipation of another excellent event!
The schedule for the three days is below. You'll see, once again, the vast
majority of the time will be dedicated to open playtesting. We will have
one presentation/activity each day after lunch. The topics sound very
interesting to me and I trust everyone who can attend those sessions will
find much to enjoy.
The schedule for each day will be:
9:00 am to 11:30 am - Playtesting sessions
11:30 am to 1:00 pm - Lunch on your own
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm - Presentation/Activity
2:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Playtesting sessions
After 6:00 attendees can arrange for dinner and additional playtesting as
they wish. The room in the hotel is open until 11:00 pm for our use.
Presentations/Activities:
Thursday Alex Yeager will present "50 Things You Can Do With Cards"
Friday David Whitcher will lead a game redesign exercise: "Everything Old is
New Again"
Saturday Matt Forbeck, our Guest of Honor, will speak present "Freelance
Game Design"
I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone about
registration. The pre-registration period ends in three weeks on June 16th.
At that time the cost of a three-day pass will go from $25 to $30. More
importantly, though, remember that date is also when we'll decide if we have
enough pre-registrations to go ahead with the event.
In years past it has been common for several registrations to come in just a
couple weeks before Protospiel and many of you have even preferred to pay at
the door. This is understandable, since it's usually difficult to make a
commitment to attend when so many other activities are taking place during
the summer. However, the improvement in our meeting location this year has
also raised our expenses. It will be very helpful to those of us organizing
the event if you can support it by registering before June 16th.
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post them here to
the Protospiel list or you can write me privately at

Looking forward to July 13th,
I would like to point out for those of you looking into self publishing that Protospiel is a good place to meet those who have already been their and done that. Good advice abounds about what mistakes and missteps to avoid weather you are making you games by hand or having a 5000 piece print run done.
P.S. you can also contact me with any questions you have.
