Again for my civ game idea. I was thinking to make it a card only game. Remember where I thought of magic a simple dice system for civilization management, well that would be replaced by cards. Maybe random cards.
The idea is that cards can hold many unique information which can give a different flavor to each of them. So that it the end, the events and actions that occurs feels more unique and realistic. So it might increase the feeling that you are actually really there.
The second advantage is that it can be very flexible. You could design new cards to be added or replaced in the game which would help increasing variety. It's a bit like Arkham Horror and all it's expansions.
The only drawback so far is that I might need a lot of cards especially considering that I intend to use a deck building game for one part of the game.
