Folks,

I got an ok to move the site from the current slow one to a faster one. As soon as my domain registrar updates their nameserver information it will be complete. At that time I will have to restore the database from the old server onto the new one. So the site may be down for a tad while that is done.

Also it looks like the tiki *is* causing some problems with the server although I don't know why or how. For that reason, let's hold off on using the tiki until we move over to the new server.

Thanks for your cooperation and sorry for the setback. The wiki was rolling right along...

Some good news. Got this in my mail box today:

Quote:

Greetings Michael,

The server where your website is located will be undergoing a hardware
upgrade today.

The main reason for this decision are the downtime and poor performance
issues, which were arising more and more frequently in the past couple
of months. Well, not anymore! The new server will be more than twice as
fast and you are sure to see the difference. Here is what the setup was
before:

Celeron 2.0 GHz
1024 MB RAM
IDE harddrive

And after upgrade it will be:

Dual Xeon 2.4 GHz
2048 MB RAM
SCSI harddrive (faster technology)

Your website will incur no downtime during this process and we will
notify you when we are done. Let us know if you have any questions in the
mean time (you can respond to this e-mail).

BTW, just a reminder, tje new site is at:
