I am looking for feedback on Rehtmeyer, Inc. to determine if they are trustworthy. They manufacture and license games. Has anyone used them? Let me know your experience with them good or bad. Please post or email me. Thank you!
Has anyone worked with Rehtmeyer, Inc.?
I have got quotes from them, but never ordered from them.
I believe that Rehtmeyer is a respected company. The problem is that nominally they are middlemen in some ways. They have factories overseas and in addition to the factory workers, the Rehtmeyer employees here need to take a cut for their work.
This makes their minimums much higher than if you just ordered direct from a company in India, China, or Hong Kong yourself. It does give you someone here in the U.S. who is legally responsible to you, though. So that's a plus.
I also found their prices to be middling high. Not as high as domestic prices, but high enough.
They were somewhat slow to get me quotes and very slow to get me samples.
Check around with some other folks. I think you'll find that they probably have some solid end results from Rehtmeyer. I just think I'd have trouble doing business with them under tight deadlines.
Like I said, I have never published anything with them, just went through the quoting process. They seemed thorough, but slow.
I used Rehtmeyer twice to evaluate a game that I'm developing. For $100, they will take a look at a few photos, and a description of about 1000 words, and give you a write-up with their opinion on whether or not it is licenceable, or self-produceable, or neither. I found this service to be useful, and probably worth the $100 each time. They gave me some good tips and good advice.
I then wanted to use their service to move forward with the process of development and production, and was very disappointed. I will provide details on request, but I was left with the feeling that they simply didn't want to do business with me, for whatever reason. I don't know if it was because they assumed that I didn't have the large sum of money required for the project, or because they would rather do business with an already-published developer, or if they simply don't know if they are coming or going, just like many companies.
I've been working with Delano Service, however, and I have been very satisifed so far. They have been very helpful, and seem to really want to do business, and they seem to know what they are doing. Of course, their prices are higher than companies that manufacture in China. I will post additional details as I continue working with them to get my game produced.
