hey, as you know I am from the north, and I mean north, of Canada and sadly, in the place that I live boardgaming is very small, so small in fact that there is only one other person who plays board games in the place were I live. so I have turned to solo games, but unfourtantly I can only seem to find one good game that looks good and that game is Lewis and Clark. now I am wondering if this is a good game and if there is any other good solo games out there?
solo games
There are strictly solo games like
Ambush
struggle of the galactic empire
state of siege game system (many games available)
Pocket Civ
There are games that can be played as solo and multiplayer. EX:
Arkham Horror
Eldritch Horror
Elder Sign
Rune Age
Dungeon quest
And they are multiplayer games that people adapted as solo games.
Star Craft (A variant I made)
There are many other adapted games out there. I had some thoughts lately for a Shadow over Camelot solo variant.
Most solo only games seems to be war games. I suggest you aim for multi-player game that can be played solo, so that if you end up with at least 1 player, you'll be able to play with him.

From which region of canada are you?
Boardgamegeek.com has a good solo game list, including print and plays as well.

Full disclosure, I work for VPG. I think we have something like 40 products that are solitaire or have a solitaire variant. Of course that includes expansions and such. The State of Siege line mentioned earlier is ours. I think there are about 20 of those.
Everybody seems to say so. I got rid of arkham horror to buy this game. I should get it at the end of november.
I am also exploring that area. Most of my solo experience comes from old turn based strategy video games. Else they are a few of the game I listed above.
Personally I like when games are story machines. What I was currently aiming for was to have a game where players has a tons of options to create some sort of sandbox open world game. Allowing them to do what every they want which allow the creation of nice story.
Not sure if it could work well as a board game.
There are a ton of good solo games. I'm very much into them and am a specialist in them. Here's what I recommend getting:
Mage Knight
Legendary Encounters: An Aliens Deckbuilding Game
Dawn of the Zeds 2nd edition
Darkest Night
Ghost Stories
Defenders of the Realm
Death Angel
Wrath of Ashardalon

Larienna, check out "Castaways" it allows players to make choices and it affects future events and story that way:

I've got a design that includes hundreds of plays suitable for a solo player--if you like words a lot.
Castaway looks similar to Robinson Crusoe
I am from the yukon territory dawson city. thank you very much for telling me that list. is eldritch horror a good game?
