Naming 2 attributes

I am changing the attribute into 2 new attributes for my wargame.

The attributes are linked to a weapon.
The idea is that a projectile is faster or slower in moving towards the target.

NOT that it shoots faster or slower in a rate of fire.

The levels range from 1 to 6. So it will look like this:
[AttributeName #]

How to name these 2 attributes in such way, that there is no confusion?

I thought about this a long time (over 1 hour) and...

What I got is:

Quote:
[FastIncoming #] and [SlowerIncoming #]

But IDK I'm honestly not 100% sure. This is just what I got as inspiration for these attribute labels when I was working on my own project ("ARCH").

If you like GREAT, if not... no worries. Wait for more feedback from one of our other members. Like @let-off studios or @larienna... They may have a different perspective and offer you some more inspiration than what I have shared.

Sincerely.

Clearly

I lack knowledge of the english language for this.
And the braincell was asleep that remembered the following:

Luckily I can look into https://thesaurus.yourdictionary.com/

For faster, I have:

n-agile
n-brisk
n-hot
n-nimble
n-quick
n-rapid
n-swift
y?-accelerated
n-active
n-dashing
n-electric
n-flashing
n-fleet
n-fleeting
n-flying
n-hurried
n-racing
n-ready
n-snap
n-winged
n-PDQ
n-blue streak
n-breakneck
n-chop-chop
n-double-time
n-expeditious
n-expeditive
n-hairtrigger
y?-hasty
n-hypersonic
n-in a jiffy
n-in nothing flat
n-lickety split
n-like a bat out of hell
n-like all get out
n-like crazy
n-like mad
n-on the double
n-posthaste
n-presto
n-pronto
n-screamin'
n-snappy
n-speedball
n-supersonic
n-velocious

Accelerated sounds nice....hasty or haste are also options.
I also can still play around with velocity. But it would be in the attribute itself. Like [Fast Velocity Projectile]. I used to use [V#-]. But it is going to be replaced.

A 1 word attribute would be neat...And if the attribute doesn't fit. It should be explained in the manual. And some sort of summary is displayed. Like [FVP#-]
The other way around would be [SVP#-]. Which means [Slow Velocity Projectile].

For Slower I have:

n-easy
n-gradual
y?-heavy
n-lackadaisical
n-leisurely
n-lethargic
n-moderate
n-passive
n-quiet
n-reluctant
y?-sluggish
n-stagnant
n-crawling
n-creeping
n-dawdling
y?-delaying
n-deliberate
n-disinclined
n-idle
y?-lagging
n-loitering
n-measured
n-plodding
n-postponing
n-procrastinating
y?-slack
n-apathetic
n-dilatory
n-dreamy
n-drowsy
n-imperceptible
n-inactive
n-indolent
n-inert
n-laggard
n-leaden
n-listless
n-negligent
n-phlegmatic
n-ponderous
n-remiss
n-sleepy
n-slothful
n-slow-moving
n-snaillike
n-supine
n-tardy
n-torpid
n-tortoiselike

I think I should wait for them to help me. Sure I got more suggestions from that website. But I did use Y and a ?

How about these?

Velocity

Accelerate, Acceleration
Decelerate, Deceleration

Love it! Clean, simple, and my second braincell started working.

What about?
Accelerated
Decelerated

Although, how does a decelerated projectile look like?
Maybe I must go with the Accelerate and Decelerate.

If velocity is the first

If velocity is the first attribute, what is the second one?

Velocity was the original attribute. It was 1 system.

I changed it into 2 mechanics where the 2 attribute rolls outcome have a different outcome.

I am just bad in naming them.
Another idea:

[Fast Velocity #] or [Fv#-]
[Slow Velocity #] or [Sv#-]

Which holds tradition to the old attribute design [Velocity#] or [V#-]

Suggestion

I suggest to use the words below:

Accelerated
Decelerated

Velocity = Fast or Slow
Angle = Degrees to target
Distance = 1 space/hex - "X" space/hex from opponent.

Add different rule sets for the terms of how the projectile should or could behave during combat.

So many words to describe velocity but acceleration (Ed) and deceleration (Ed) is best. It may look wonky on your card but it will be fine.

Like StormyKnight suggested,

Like StormyKnight suggested, does both stats has to be related to speed? Could you retheme to something else?

For example:

Velocity + Accuracy

Could be an interesting stat combo.

I think it is done

Funny you say that. The velocity will alter the accuracy of a projectile.
The "slower" projectiles will actually be an extra accuracy roll when a penalty occurs.
Meaning that the accuracy of the penalty, will get worse with a second roll.

The "faster" one will turn a miss into a hit. In a sense, a reversed accuracy.

But I think that I have made a choice. 2 buddies came up with the idea to reïmplement the [V-]
It used to be V0-, V2-, V3-, or more.
But now we can limit it between V-6- to V+6-.

And actually keep one name for the attribute: Velocity.
I keep the accelerated and deccelerated in my notebook, just in case.

Now the one remaining question.
How do they feel about the negative attribute to work differently than the positive attribute?

ah right

Thanks for the suggestions.
They helped a lot steering my train of thoughts.
