I've been toying with an idea for a fixed deck card game where you play as the manager of a small band, setting up concerts and recording sessions, choosing new band members, and trying to keep things civil between them, all in an effort to get to the top of the charts. The player has options like weather to combine different genres for a more unique sound, or sticking to one or two for a wider audience.
The band's fame increases by the sum of its members' skill, creativity, and awesomeness, and also the creative tension between them, but if a musicians's tension goes past his patience, then he quits the band. (Tension is created between incompatible personalities and by certain events) So the player can include things like spa days and team-building workshops to try and settle down the conflicts.
Things happen like flat tires and groupie mobs, that you have to be prepared for, by booking extra travel days between gigs, or keeping security and roadies around. Your rival managers can also sabotage you, but if you manage to foil their plans, the effects are reversed. Good things happen too, like government music grants, or a chance meeting with an old rock legend. And things that can go either way, like two of your band members falling in love, (Which decreases their tension, but stresses the rest of the band.
Successful gigs give you xp to increase your skills. You can use certain skills to fix event and sabotage cards. Record deals and merchandising give you a steady income when nobody turns up at a gig, so you can pay for gas and food.
That's all right now... working on math and stuff right now...
You play the band's manager, so it's more like a tycoon game. You have to set up tour dates etc. You can play either by yourself or against someone, If there's two of you, you can sabotage each other... But yeah... Card game...
Now you've got me thinking how one could make a card game that plays like Guitar Hero...
