Hey everyone,
I've got a new card game that needs testing and tweaking! It's (potentially) called Band Slam, and is designed for 2-5 players. What I could really use is some solid playtesting of those 4 and 5 player games, as it's hard right now for me to get that many people organized often enough.
Anyway, a quick and sloppy synopsis of the game:
There are 3 sets of cards: Members, Instruments, and General (the main deck). The game (and cards) features a quirky aesthetic and humorous take on the music world. Each band member is a caricature of a music genre, there are plenty of fun instruments, and the text pokes jabs at plenty of industry trends (many of them based on my personal experiences). The purpose of the game is to win 3(?) Gig Cards, thus winning the battle of the bands.
Each player's band starts as 1 member and 1 instrument, and they can build their band up more throughout the game. On a turn, the player can perform various actions to manage their band, hand, or wreck other bands. Should a Gig card be played, the game becomes a free-for-all as everyone tries to win the show (through instrument bonuses, cards, etc.) by boosting their own band and screwing over everyone else.
So far, this game has been a lot of fun to play, and I've gotten very positive feedback on it. Now to just iron out the kinks! It plays decently well with 2 players, but really gets into its element the more people you add.
If anyone is interested in testing out this game, I can provide you with more eloquent (and complete) rules, pdf files of the entire card library, and any other assistance you may need.
Hmm, that's interesting. I hadn't seen that game before. The description sounds very similar, so I'll have to check it out and see if the core mechanics are the same or not. Hopefully not. One difference I can see straight away is that BTOB has a parental advisory, whereas Band Slam is family friendly. Thanks for the heads up!
