Hi all.
I'm seeking playtesters for a new design called "Battle for Alur".
"Battle for Alur" combines basic wargaming concepts (hex-based mapboard, ZOCs) with a rock-paper-scissors mechanic, all wrapped-up in a chess-like setting. In fact, early playtests have shown that many of the tactical considerations and thought processes of players are similar to those of chess, so I expect fans of chess and similar games to enjoy this as well.
The game is very simple to learn but hard to master. Having no particular theme, one could classify it as an abstract game. It is played by 2 players.
For those interested in playtesting, I can provide a digital version of the game, but creating a physical version at home is quite easy as well.
Feedback for the game itself, as well as on similar games that you may have encountered will be very much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Hi Chris, thanks for your message.
I'm not sure if posting images would build interest, as I have not done anything catchy yet in this respect. A horseman is simply a square with a big "H" inside, whereas a swordsman is a square with a big "S", and so on. :-)
At the moment, I'm hoping people will appreciate the game for its strategic depth. If this works out, and as I become more confident on the game's components and units, I may do something on the artwork (even though I would eventually need a professional to do it). Fortunately, abstract games are less demanding in this respect.
Having said that, I did post an image of the starting positions of units (see original post).
