Hello Everyone, I've been working on my hero cards and would like some insight on the formatting if you would be so kind. I have 3 concepts I'm going back and forth on, and any insight on what you like or dislike would be very helpful. Or if there is something not working that would be helpful as well. Ultimately, my concern is about clarity the way the information is presented. Of course the anatomy of the cards will be explained in the rule book, but I'm hoping to present everything in a way that is not obstructive and clear. Just be gentle :)

looking cool! I think I

looking cool! I think I prefer the division of the powers in concept 3 feels easier to read, but I do like the header in the other two.

Small thing but the V in the '4th' power is obscured a bit by the highlight, but that might just be my screen!

Third

Looking nice...

I also prefer the third layout, though I would try to color the horizontal headers so they look like they are the same piece of metal as the arc framing the portrait. Or even if you'd like it to look like a separate bar bolted on, it should still have the same lighting as the arc.

The II, III and IV tags for the powers might work better at the extreme right of the headers.

My only hesitation is that this layout is going to restrict you to very short hero names. The name text should have a border or glow to ensure it is distinct from the portrait, but it would be the only text like that and therefore look out of place. Probably better to pick the portrait colors carefully, fade the portrait at the top, or put the name on a badge with a similar metallic motif as the headers.

My thoughts

You can save some headaches by using the *{name} header format from concepts 1 and 2. I'm thinking of the difficulties of reading the names of hero's with white hair or having to adjust the color of the name.

I agree the the "V" in the IV power is obscured by the shading especially in the smaller IV.

It is just my opinion but I like the power headers in concept 3. For me they break up the text and make the card more readable.

Yeah I think 3 is easier to read as well, and the header has some flavor elements, but I think the flavor gets ditched for readability. the IV is slightly obscured, you're right. I'll go ahead and make it a little more transparent as not to obscure it. Thank you so much for the feedback!

Yeah I completely agree with making the metal match. That curved bar is new to the formatting, so I haven't sat with it and finished it completely, but making it all one big piece with the same lighting is a great idea. Oh I never thought about putting it on the far right. I figured making everything left-heavy since people read that way made sense to me, but for formatting it might actually free up a lot more space, I'll try it out! Since cards are so small it always feels like this competition for space, but you're right, something will have to be done with the name so it 1)visually separates it from the background and 2)can fit a longer name. Thanks for the insight.

Losing the header does create some minor issues, but since I'm doing this myself, it shouldn't be too bad. Yeah I agree about the highlight, I'll need to change that. Hmm okay, I'll experiment more and maybe I can come up with a hybrid of the concepts that doesn't look too busy. Thank you so much for the insight.
