And it is totally FUCKED! You can't even play the songs in your Song List or in any of your Play Lists (before you could group and categorize music and listen to the songs you want to).

Now these FUCKERS have made it Shuffle. The worst thing is that the Shuffle still doesn't play the CHOSEN SONG... NO it uses an Algorithm to play a SIMILAR SONG!!!

WTF!!! This is pure sh!t!!!

I can't even listen to any of my MUSIC/PLAYLISTS/SONGS because it's NO LONGER possible.

Thanks a LOT AMAZON!!! Jerks... All they care about is their $9.99/month PREMIUM service which now allows you to play any and all songs on-demand. Whatever... Nobody is going to pay this ... It used to be PERK of having commercial free music on Amazon. Now with this BS... It's a pointless service!

Cloud services

One of the alleged advantages of cloud-based services is that they can be updated at any time without relying on users to install patches.

It really sucks when a provider uses that power to REMOVE a feature or mess up carefully-tuned settings.

I hadn't noticed the change because I think I might be the last person on Earth who still buys songs on iTunes.

Time to stop making use of

Time to stop making use of their "services".
Right?

It's weird, because the last

It's weird, because the last time I remember buying music was in audio tapes. I don't remember even buying a CD.

Now since I mostly listen to video game music and Movie sound track, those things are hard to find in digital distribution. Steam offer some soundtrack for video games, but there are sometimes 10$+ While the price of the game is like around 20$

Yes, services, even non-subscription, has pro and cons. Yes you can access it from anywhere at anytime, a game will always be available for purchase. But lets says, Microsoft goes bankrupt (not going to happen soon) or decides to shutdown the Xbox services, well I lose all the game I bought on that store. That is the main disadvantage of digital distribution.

I know Nintendo has that issue with their console where people need to constantly re-buy games they own. For example, I have no more services on WII anymore, so I cannot download a game I purchased but missing on my console.

But I can still play my NES games on my console.

I normally listen to 80s and 70s and current hits

Needless to say Amazon Music is following the Spotify model in how they are now offering music (freely without a monthly fee - which is ridiculous).

As to @X3M's "time to cancel"... Well I do get a bunch of Amazon Prime Shows and Videos/Movies... But the Music Service was great because it required no ads and you could play WHATEVER from their "limited catalog" of 100,000 songs.

Their excuse is that now they have to charge because they are offering the ENTIRE Music Catalog out-there... But free users can no longer listen to THEIR playlists or song selection (curated).

It's real moronic... Nobody is going to pay $9.99/month when the service USED to be FREE... I'm not paying it... And there are a lot of users that are visibly upset too! I personally listen to the SAME song OVER-AND-OVER for 30 minutes and then change to another repeating the process...

This BS of shuffling music isn't COMPATIBLE with how I LISTEN to music...

Anyhow to recap, I will keep PRIME because I still get 2-Day Free Delivery on a ton of products and I also get PRIME VIDEO at no extra cost. But let me tell you Paramount is now CHARGING to watch their movies (like Star Trek - for example)... Used to be on NETFLIX... But has now switched over to PRIME because THEY make more money this way...

It's all about MONEY! PAY MORE PER MONTH. Do they think we're all RICH and can afford to pay $10.99 + $12.99 + $9.99 = $33.97/month just for Amazon??? IMHO it's ridiculous...

In this time of inflation and

In this time of inflation and recession, at least in Canada, one thing that people will be cutting is subscription to stuff. Cutting most subscription is the way to go, because that is how you are likely to save money and get back control over it.

Make a choice between the offering available. It's like credit cards, you should not have a copy of every credit card out there because each of them gives a different advantage. Pick the most advantageous one for you. And if you can live without a credit card, go for it.

So it could mean analyzing you habits, hobbies and changing how you do things. If you listen to the same song 30 minutes in a row (I personally rarely do this) then you might need very few songs. Is there an alternate way to get the music you want? Instead of a subscription, can you buy individual albums physically or digitally?

Well before I had NETFLIX...

And it was costing me $12.95/month. It started at $8.95/month and gradually went up in pricing. Then I found Prime Video which was FREE and included with Prime. Prime allows FREE delivery and often 2-day delivery. That used to be $6.99/month but it included Prime Video and Amazon Music FOR FREE! Gradually it too went up in price and now cost $8.25/month.

But I get Videos/Movies/TV Shows FREE (not all but some...) Then I get FREE delivery on Fulfilled by Amazon products and also a 2-day delivery option which is instantaneously FAST!

BEFORE I could also curate my own PLAYLISTS and LISTEN to the songs that I wanted to hear FREE! Amazon Music was part of the PRIME Membership. But now they want an additional $9.99/month to play songs ON-DEMAND.

Like you said, most people are TRYING to SAVE money. And so $8.25/month or $99 per year for 3 services is/was GREAT. But now they are charging piecemeal for each service: Amazon Music on-demand ($9.99), Paramount Pictures Movies ($12.99) and the same PRIME membership of $99/year.

It's like DISNEY+ ... Watch all the Marvel Movies. Yeah another $12.99/month.

All these people are getting RIDICULOUS with their STUPID monthly subscriptions... It's not feasible... There's Crave, StackTV, etc. for shows that you get FREE with Cable but they charge for them ONLINE.

Everyone in their own little world wants $12.99/month for a very LIMITED amount of content. And they all expect everyone to PAY that amount per subscription. It's freaken CRAZY and LUDICROUS!

Also BEFORE I used to Download MP3s songs of the music I wanted to LISTEN to. But there is no iTunes for the PC world. And nobody wants to SELL MP3s because you can COPY them with your friends and even use the Internet to redistribute MP3s online. The world is one mutha-fncken HOARD of money eaters. All they want you to do is SUBSCRIBE to their OVERPRICED subscriptions.

MAYBE if the subscription was $1.99/month and you could have like 3 or 4 subscriptions... That could be FEASIBLE. But not in this OVERLY-CAPITALIST world which requires subscriptions to be higher than basic services like PRIME!

Again MAYBE that could work. But it's got to be ON-DEMAND not this BS of shuffling similar songs by an algorithm with limited amount of SKIPS (of songs)... That's what I think of their subscriptions: $1.99/month each. PERIOD!

We are going back to the VHS

We are going back to the VHS VS BETA syndrome. There will be many services, some will work some will fail. Some might fusion together eventually, and you'll end up with less services.

One solution I am using is subscribing to only 1 month. I have so far 1 month of Disney+ and 1 month of netflix that I get either during the summer or winter vacation where I have more free time to watch stuff. So that cost me approximately 1/6th of a single subscription.

Re-evaluate your needs, determines what you really want. Can or organize things differently? Can you find alternate hobbies?

Else, piracy might get back on the rise again if people cannot afford those subscription. The illegal competition could change the mechanics.

You make a good point...

Hmm... I could create an APP that allows you to key-in the Lyrics Videos for the songs that I like ... Even a SIMPLE LIST could ensure that I just put in the URL for the Lyrics Video of the SONG that I want to hear!

Fnck subscription services... YouTube hardly changes the URL/LINKS to its Videos and watching or listening to Lyrics Video is probably less demanding than the actual Music Video of the specific song.

And it's really simple to MANAGE: all you need to STORE is the "Video Reference"...

Super EASY ... The problem is the usual stuff which is HARD to do... Accounts, Password Management and the LISTS (not yet sure how to do this...)

You could use it for any specific PLAYBACK of YouTube videos (like Video Lists) where you enter the "Video Reference" and then click "GO!" and voila... Videos with Music you can listen to ... Or even use this type of website for other purposes like curation of your video content.

And it could have an XML-Export/Import setting so that you can SAVE your LISTS locally to your computer and upload them in the event you delete them or want to SHARE them with OTHER USERS!!! OMG... That would be AWESOME!

My Ex-Boss told me about YouTube Music ... but there are ads after each song. He uses an ad-blocker for Chrome and Firefox... But you need to get the code and compile it and who knows if there are worms or hacks in the code... I don't trust all that free-ware because most of the time people put hacks into their code...

Anyhow I like my possible WEBSITE that allows you to curate stuff on your own. My Ex-Boss says there are "playlists" and while true... I'm leaning towards my OWN curator because it wouldn't include any HACKS and it's not that difficult to code TBH. It's a project like any other...

Thoughts???

Hmm... I kinda agree with @Eric and ... YOU!

I would be willing to PAY $0.99 a SONG in an MP3 format for the audio files. But like I said, nobody is going that way on PCs. Same goes for my SmartPhone... If I feel like uploading a bunch of FILES (MP3s) that means that I will not have any DATA usage for STREAMING SERVICES ... And I am FINE with that.

The ONLY problem is WHERE(?) to BUY MP3s for songs on PCs???

I do have a library of about 50 or so MP3s that I play in my CAR (when I get bored of the radio or tired of playing a particular CD).

But I'd love to PURCHASE (and not distribute) a bunch of NEW songs... Just to update my library of songs! Anyone know where I can do this???

Cheers!

Two Options

I'm unsure of what music you listen to, however, I have two suggestions for you on where you can find MP3s, either paid or no-cost. I highly-recommend both of these options:

www.bandcamp.com

www.archive.org

There are other methods to archive your own music from your own CDs (for example) by extracting MP3s from them, but I'm not so well-versed in those. Nor do I want to suggest you pursue any legally-questionable options, and there seem to be plenty of those out there.

Interesting that I found another site...

It's called Caprice MP3: https://mp3caprice.com/

Looks like they SELL MP3s for popular music ... I haven't explored the website in full detail. I know you need to create an ACCOUNT. And I was worried that this would turn out into another "Cloud Service" but from the HELP Page they say that you can DOWNLOAD the music that you buy.

It's pretty reasonable at $0.12 a SONG... I don't know what the restrictions are like may $0.12 to STREAM it and $0.99 to DOWNLOAD it (possibly) but I'm not sure. This seems to be a mainstream website and legitimate in their content...

I'll look into this website more to see IF I can BUY and DOWNLOAD the songs that I want. Keep you all posted to see how it works... Cheers!

I am also the type of person

I am also the type of person who want to own the things I buy even if it's just a digital copy.

You can rip your own CD to create MP3, it's legal as long as you keep the original CD.
