Hi,
im a game programmer, and i want to develop an online computer game.
Im looking for a game designer to help me to develop a strategy game, that can be played on a massive basis, online.
I know how to set up servers, develop server side services, i can use some programming languajes, and i know also some 2D and 3D engines to develop games.
I need someone that can have a good idea about a strategy game, (more or less original), and make a set of rules, help with the aesthetics of the game, etc, so we get a complete game , fun to be played for hundreds of players at the same time.
I have more ideas about the type of game, and mechanics.
The game can be a strategy game, a role playing game or a card game. The game will be persistent (the player connects and the world is more or less as he leaved the last time), i want a game system that can make fun playing many players at the same time.
I have seen on other computer related forums, and they only are interested on shooters and action games, thats why im looking here.
If anyone is interested or have anyquestion please post here a reply.
thanks!
well, some more info about my post and what i want:
- i want to make a commercial game at the long term, if i get the game so fun that the players are willing to pay to play, but i dont want to charge too much. At the moment, i know its difficult to develop and run a successful online massive game, so first, there is no money involved, only some cost and i will pay them (software, web and server hosting services),
perhaps i can pay some money, not much, for the game design or for graphics.
Im not talking much about money because there are a lot of technical and game play issues to develop, before we can make the game run ok.
- The game i want to develop is a persistent online massive game, it is different than a board game on many things, but i think you game designers can do both them ok. Indeed, the game will be long, without a end or "victory conditions", full of subgames. Also, it should be able to be played by lots of players at the same time (possibly not on the same location or map or submap), but if there are few players online, it will be fun too. The players can leave the game ant anytime, the game continues with other online players. When the player returns he will automatically get the things or achievements he got before on other game sessions. I suppose you as game designer know board games as also an online game like ultima online, lineage, world of warcraft, or everquest (these are role playing games, i prefer something more strategic, or cards based)
- sometimes a board game is not playable because it needs too many tokens,or too many players to be fun, or needs a "game master" to hide information of the game to the players, or some difficult calculations every combat turn. These are situations in wich a computer acting as the game master is very useful, so if you have designed such a game, perhaps its a good game idea, if used as a basis for the game i want to develop.
I hope these thoughts help you.
Thanks!
