You have the Power!
I have an idea for a game that is played on a board with cards. You draw 5 cards from your deck and are allowed to summon a card or cast a spell ect. If interested please tell me for more ideas!
I bet you can come up with some good ideas on your own if you ask yourself the same questions we might ask.
To start with when designing a game you must have some idea what you audience is. Every game is not for every person.
Who do you see playing this game: Young children, Teens, Adults, Ninjas?
And how many player? 2, 2-4, Solo
Now imagine the game itself.
What is the purpose of the board, is it necessary or more for style?
Are there more parts like little wizards that move around the board?
Is this a board game that is card driven or a card game that uses a board to track information?
Now imagine those people playing the game.
What are they doing?
Are they working together or against each other?
Does everyone take turns or play at the same time?
How long does that game take: minutes, hours, days, never ending?
And most importantly what is the goal or purpose of the game: Destroy the other players, gain points, socialize and relax playing a fun game (Winning isn’t everything)
Once you have had time to think it over let us know what you have come up with.
My idea is for the players to draw their cards and than take turns playing monsters (catapult, ect.) and spells (tornado, ect.) the monster cards each have certain attacks defence and movement. Spells can be combined to create devastating powers (firestorm + tornado= fire tornado) or make different things (wind slice + grow tree= whatever object made out of wood(canoe)) and you can choose your character. The goal is to defeat the opponents army. Destroy their base. Capture their leader. The board is used as battle map and can be configured with forests rivers ect.
