since I somehow couldn't find a way to add an image in a comment, I had to start a new topic. Here is a photo of the Shadow game so far. I had fun carving the wooden pieces and made a leather board to go with it. This might be helpful to show what the game looks like when it's all set up and ready to play. Like I said, it could be easily played with chess pieces and/or checkers.
Okay, that’s WAY beyond anything I would’ve done :). $1 plastic chess/checker set at the dollar store :).

Yup, at first the project was actually more about the art side of things and the fun of physically making a game, but then I really got into designing the game itself and coming up with something that's fun to play.
