Greetings! My family and I have only recently gotten into board games. My gaming background is in the Playstation world. I am an art teacher and graphic designer.

Why am I here? Recently, my kids, wife and I purchased Mice & Mystics. It sparked our interest and my creativity started to get a jump start. Seeing my son ask about Colin and what I thought the best strategy would be to collect the most cheese to level up hit a soft spot. For my birthday, my wife got me Gloomhaven and I AM HOOKED. I was inspired to delve into this world and started making form core organizers, painting miniatures and seeking videos on how the whole process works.

I then started listening to the podcast and it directed me here.

I'm currently designing a game for my kids to play. It's in a VERY early stage, but on several podcasts designers suggested getting your stuff out there immediately so I'm taking that advice. I'm hoping to hear feedback on whether or not this game already exists and maybe in the future look into having it play tested outside of our family.

Title is Animal Battle Home

The concept behind it is you play as a variety of animal heroes on an island. The first hero is just returning from Battle School and you start your adventure there. I'm new to this so the following images and attachments are a bit scattered, but I'm excited to share. I'm working on a PnP version of the game, I haven't figure out all the rules yet but the basic game play is you travel to your hometown, people send you on quests via letters in your mailbox, you traverse the mountain, fight a boss, receive rewards, upgrade your home with items to fortify your home for a story ending battle when the monsters have a final attack.
Thank you in advance for any comments or feedback!

It looks good, but in general

It looks good, but in general you're likely to get more feedback--including on the board--when people see the rules.

What?? Not the acclaimed Heroes & Treasure (www.heroesandtreasure.com, or the Kickstarter at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/727578181/ice-and-flame-rpg)?? I am shocked. SHOCKED!

But anyway, welcome!

Game designers who can do their own art are in a pretty good starting position :)

oi, that looks like it will

oi, that looks like it will be a big game.

I try not to play test anything without having the rules written. That said, I've never tried to make a game that big.

Ultimately your game will be a set of rules and components. So testing your rules and rule writing is almost just as important as the game mechanisms.

Hi! The art looks lovely.
Like everybody else I'd love to know more details about the game.

Thanks for the game recommendation! I found M&Ms off of top 10s and SUSD. Do you think this game does a good job at prepping kids for more advanced RPGs down the line? (my kids are 8 and under.)

Thanks for the tips, yeah this idea is getting bigger and bigger. So far I'm really enjoying the process and the problem solving of making something that is fun and not just "move this here and get this, repeat."

I do.. that's what it was designed to do, though if the kids are already well versed in M&M, Heroes & Treasure may seem over-simplified, since it's very simplified, and M&M is not.

(just to be clear, this is my game, so this is not an unbiased opinion of its quality :) )
